What Are Audiocard.com! Electronic Cards?

Audiocard.com! ELECTRONIC GREETING CARDS are a free site on the internet which allows you to pick from a wide variety of images, including animations and combines these images with a prerecorded audio message (male or female). These audio greetings were made to encompass almost every type of celebration and personal saying which even include songs prepared by the staff at Say It! and clips from famous artists. After the sender attaches their own typwritten message, the card is mailed to your special someone and verification of this email is sent to you within minutes of the sending. Audiocard.com! CARDS will then automatically formulate a web site to view the card and send the location of this via email to the recipient. Upon reciept of this email, the person can then either click on the web site, if their email program allows web links, copy and paste the link into the web browser or just hand copy the link to paper and then type the link in manually to the web browser thus allowing the person to view the card and hear the audio message right away.

Selecting The Audio Message
After you have chosen your image, you will then pick a voice for the audio message for your card. You can choose either male or female by clicking on the circle to the left of the gender you wish to use. As you scroll down through the list of speaking messages and songs, you will see a CIRCLE IN FRONT of the message and a PREVIEW BEHIND the message. You must click on the circle to choose the message. Simply previewing the message will not select it.

Back

How Do I Preview A Message?
Behind each message is the word PREVIEW. Click on PREVIEW to hear that audio message. Remember, you must then select your message you wish to use by clicking on the circle in front of the message. Just Previewing the message will not select it.

Sending the Message

After selecting the audio message, scroll down the page further until you see the EMAIL information. All Email addresses To and FROM must be filled in completely. This means that you must have a username the @ sign and then the domain name. Those who are using AOL and other online services can send email within their service by only using the username. If you just put in the username without the @aol.com, The Card Will Not Be Sent! You must type in the entire email address so if the nickname of your friend on aol is honey, then you would type, in the TO section, honey@aol.com. If your nickname is WildThing, then in the FROM or YOUR Email address, you would type WildThing@aol.com.

Below the email addresses is a large white box for you to enter you own personal greeting. There's no limit to how long you wish to make this greeting. After typing your special message, click on PREVIEW MY CARD you cannot send a card if you do not PREVIEW it first If you have typed in the email address incorectly, this page will not notify you so you must check all of this information your self. The way you see the card on the preview page is the way your recipient will see the card. Make sure you click on the CLICK ME link to see if you hear the message. If everything looks alright, click on IT'S GOOD, SEND THE CARD.

Back

How Do I Know My Card Was Sent?

Minutes after you send the card by clicking on It's Good! Send that Card, a confirmation will be emailed to you. This is why it's imperative you put your email address into the FROM area in the card. The confirmation will tell you when the card was sent, to whom it was sent, and what address sent it.

How Do I Pick Up My Card?

An Email message will come to you from Audiocard.com! Cards. This message contains the address of the site where the card can be picked up. You must then open your web browser and go to where it says either ADDRESS (internet explorer) or LOCATION (netscape). There will be an address in there already. Put your cursor on the address line and click on it. This will highlight the entire address. You can either begin typing and the other address will clear, or press on the DELETE KEY on your keyboard and clear the old address and then type in the new one. The address for you cards looks something like this: http://www.audiocard.com/pickup/4 elmo.html (this is not a real address just an example) Make sure you type in the entire thing. Some people either forget the http OR they forget to type in the dot (.) before the word "html."

I Can't Hear The Audio Message, Why?

Most likely you do not have your web browser (netscape) set up to hear .wav sound files. The following will explain how to do this.

Netscape helper apps. Version 1.22
Click on options click on preferences click on helper apps scroll down to where you see the file you want to edit under file type. Left click once to highlight it. For sound files you will see audio (x-wav) look towards the bottom of that page and you will see action. Choose launch the application by clicking on it. Click on browse you will get what looks like a mini file manager. Point and click your way to the application you wish to use.
Example you want to use sound recorder click on audio under file type to highlight it.
Under action click on launch the application click on browse.
The directories are on the right side.
Double click on the two dots, if they are there, until you see a list of directories with no dots at the top.
Click on sound recorder the left side has the file names.
Click on soundrecorder.Exe
Click on ok
That file name is now at the bottom of the page and the icon is to the left of that same line.
Click ok
You have configured your helper apps correctly. Whenever you click on an audio file with the extension wave, sound recorder will automatically be launched.

For versions later than 1.22:

Click on options
Click on general preferences
Click on the helper apps tab
Follow the directions above from this point.
These directions show you to configure the helper apps for sound recorder. Use these directions for any file extension you wish to associate.

Example:
You want to have mplayer come up when you click on a mpeg file. Do the same as above but you will browse to mplayer instead of soundrecorder.

Note: If you have windows, you should also have sound recorder. You can find it in accessories, multimedia. If you are using a sound blaster sound card, you should also have ole sound server which will be under applications. If you do not have either of the two programs listed above, you will have to download and install a program. Iwave is a good one. To get iwave do a search for it by typing in iwave into a search engine and pressing enter on your keyboard.

No audio chosen
Another reason you may not be able to hear the audio is whomever sent you the card neglected to choose an audio message. If you put your cursor over the click me and do not see a file or location for the file, than an audio message was not chosen. You should email the person who sent you the card and tell them they did not click on an audio message. Perhaps they did not intend to send you an audio message but only a written one, or they may have forgotten to click on it. Whichever the reason, you can't hear what wasn't chosen.

When I click on CLICK ME, I Get The Message "File Not Found". Why?

In most cases when you get the message FILE NOT FOUND, it is because the person who is sending you the file did not click on an audio portion to send. Normally what happens is they click on the PREVIEW and after hearing the message and deciding that's the one they want to send, they go ahead and just email the card forgetting to click in the box at the front of the audio message thus choosing that file and sending it.
The only thing anyone can do would be for you to inform whomever sent you the card letting him/her know that they neglected to click on an audio file. You may want to let them know about the PREVIEW because they will remember clicking on something and hearing the message. This would make them think that they did in fact click on a message when all they did was preview it and never did choose a file.

How Do I Download An Audio File?
On our audio message page, put your cursor over the PREVIEW of the message you want to download to the hard drive. Then Right Mouse Click on it. From the drop down Menue, choose SAVE AS. Then you can name the file, if it's not already named, and save it wherever you wish on your hard drive or a floppy. You can do the same on your card you received by right clicking on the CLICK ME.

The Card Will Not Send. How Come? & Internal Server Error
Most likely the email address in either or both the TO and the FROM (your email address) is not filled out correctly or not filled out at all. You must type in the complete address including the @domain name so if you are with AOL and your nickname is holly, you cannot just type in holly in the FROM area, you must type in holly@aol.com. This holds true for anyone using college addresses or any other on line service that you normally just use your nickname to send email while on that service.

I Want To Change Parts Of My Card Without Starting Over. How Can I Do This?
At the top of your web browser are buttons labeled BACK and FORWARD. If you click on the BACK button, you will be taken back one screen. Keep clicking on the BACK BUTTON until you get back to the area you want to change. After you make the change, it is impotant that you do not click on the FORWARD button or you will still be sending your old card. Instead, you mustcontinue on through the choices until you reach the PREVIEW CARD button which will take you to the site where you can either SEND THE CARD, or REDO IT. Click on OK IT'S FINE, SEND IT and you will be sending the new card.

If you have any problems downloading or installing Netscape, let us know and we will give you a hand.

I'm Using A MAC And I Can't Hear The Sounds. What To Do?
If you are using MAC, you may also need to download a program to hear .wav file extensions. There are several different programs for MAC. One will automatically transpose the .wav file into something MAC can read and the other downloads a program specifically made to hear .wav files.
